Dine Brands Global, Inc. (NYSE: DIN) was founded in 1958, formerly known as DineEquity, Inc., was changed to its current name in February 2018, and was formerly known as IHOP Corp., and was changed to DineEquity in June 2008 The name of the company is headquartered in Glendale, California, with 560 full-time employees. Together with its affiliates, it owns, franchises, operates, and leases full-service restaurants in the United States and internationally. Its brands include: Applebee’s® (all franchise Stores), IHOP® (99% are franchised stores).

Dine Brands Global was founded by erry Lapin, Al Lapin Jr and Albert Kallis. It is mainly responsible for two casual catering and family catering operations and franchising businesses, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar and International House of Pancakes (IHOP). Among them, Applebee’s provides food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and a la carte services; IHOP provides a full range of services, including food and beverages.

Dine Brands Global is divided into 4 departments to operate : Franchise Operations, Rental Operations, Company Restaurant Operations, and Financing Operations.

As of December 31, 2015, DineEquity had 2,033 Applebee’s franchised (franchise) restaurants, 1,672 IHOP franchised restaurants, and 11 IHOP self-operated restaurants. In addition, 696 IHOP franchise stores and 1 Applebee??s franchise store are rented or subleased.

As of December 31, 2018, Dine Brands Global had 1,768 Applebee franchised restaurants, and 1,831 IHOP franchised and licensed restaurants. It also involves the leasing or subletting of 676 IHOP franchised restaurants and 1 Applebee franchised restaurant; as well as the financing of franchise fees and equipment leasing.

  • In 1976, IHOP Corporation was established and maintained this name until July 16, 2007, when IHOP Corporation acquired Applebee’s International, Inc. in an all-cash transaction of US$2.1 billion, and changed its company name to: DineEquity, Inc in June 2008 ..
  • In February 2018, DineEquity, Inc. changed its name to Dine Brands Global, Inc.
