Remington Arms Company, LLC:
Until 2015, Remington Arms was part of Freedom Group, which was owned by Cerberus Capital Management. In 2014, a new factory was built in Huntsville, Alabama to produce AR-15 semi-automatic rifles and Remington 1911 R1 pistols.
In 2015, Freedom Group changed its name to Remington Outdoor Company (interestingly, in 2017, Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. also changed its name to American Outdoor Brands Corporation to downplay the impression of gun manufacturers).
In March 2018, Remington filed for bankruptcy protection, accumulating more than US$950 million in debt, and then withdrew from bankruptcy protection in May 2018. The reason for Remington’s rapid withdrawal from bankruptcy was that the pre-approved reorganization plan received 97% of creditors support.
Remington Arms Company, LLC’s main competitors include: Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. and American Outdoor Brands Corporation .
