In September 2018, ZoomInfo acquired Datanyze, a technology data provider and platform.

In 2019, Zoom Information was acquired by DiscoverOrg for an undisclosed amount. In February 2019, DiscoverOrg announced the acquisition of ZoomInfo for more than US$500 million. As part of the acquisition, DiscoverOrg’s CEO Henry Schuck, CFO Cameron Hyzer, and Chief Revenue Officer Chris Hays played the same roles in the combined entity. On September 10, 2019, ZoomInfo was renamed ZoomInfo powered by DiscoverOrg.

Zoominfo is a sales and market intelligence company. In Zoominfo’s original business model, it sold access to merchant information databases; its initial customers were human resource professionals and those interested in targeting advertisements to business personnel and tracking their responses. In 2005, Zoominfo had information about approximately 25 million people and 1.5 million companies; by 2007, Zoominfo had information about approximately 40 million people.

Zoominfo obtains and maintains its database by copying data from the Internet using a proprietary web crawler called NextGenSearchBot, analyzing the copied data to extract information and storing the information in the database.

Zoominfo’s main competitors include LinkedIn , Owler, InsideView, LeadGenius and Hoovers.

  • On July 15, 2004, in Series A financing, ZoomInfo Technologies received Venrock’s lead investment, Flagship Pioneering, Vulcan Capital, Commonwealth Capital Ventures and Ascent Venture Partners also invested 70 million US dollars.
  • In 2017, as a private equity investment, ZoomInfo received an exclusive investment of US$240 million from Great Hill Partners.

ZoomInfo Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZI) will be listed on NASDAQ on June 4, 2020. The planned issuance price is US$16-18 and the actual issuance price is US$21. It will issue 44.5 million shares and raise up to US$935 million. Funding, JP Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanley led the underwriting, and 14 banks acted as joint managers (Barclays Capital Inc., Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, BofA Securities, Inc., Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., RBC Capital Markets) , LLC, UBS Securities LLC, Wells Fargo Securities, LLC, Canaccord Genuity LLC, JMP Securities LLC, Mizuho Securities USA LLC, Piper Sandler & Co., Raymond James & Associates, Inc., Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, Inc.).
