Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE:WH) was founded in 1981 and was spin-off from the original Wyndham Worldwide on June 1, 2018, and is headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, USA. As of the spin-off date, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts owns nearly 9,000 franchised hotels under 20 hotel brands in more than 80 countries including Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Turkey, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean .

As of June 1, 2018, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts owns Ramada, Super 8 Hotels, Days Inn “days inn”, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Howard Johnson, Howard Johnson, and Wingate by Wyndham Hotel There are 20 brands including Wyndham, Microtel Inns & Suites, Tryp by Wyndham, and a total of 9,000 hotels.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (WH) history:

  • In 1981, Trammell Crow, the former chairman of Trammell Crow Company (TCC), founded Wyndham Hotel Corporation in Dallas, Texas, the predecessor of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc.
  • In 2005, Blackstone Group acquired Wyndham International for US$3.24 billion and privatized it. In the next few months, most of the hotels were sold to Goldman Sachs Group and Columbia Sussex . Blackstone rebuilt the remaining part of its assets into LXR Luxury Resorts and sold the Wyndham and Wyndham Garden Hotel brands to Cendant . Blackstone also sold Summerfield Suites to Hyatt Hotels and was rebuilt as Hyatt House.
  • On August 1, 2006, all Cendant hotel brands became part of Wyndham Worldwide. Wyndham Worldwide’s brands include: Baymont Inn & Suites, Days Inn, Howard Johnson’s, Knights Inn, Microtel, Ramada, Super 8, Travelodge, Wyndham, Wyndham Garden Hotels, Hawthorn Suites, and Wingate by Wyndham. In addition to hotels, Wyndham Worldwide also operates Wyndham Vacation Resorts (formerly known as Fairfield Resorts) and WorldMark by Wyndham (formerly known as Trendwest) timeshare resorts.
  • June 1, 2018, Wyndham Worldwide spin-offs, spin-off of the original hotel business to become the company –Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc., the rest of the business was renamed Wyndham vacation destination company (Wyndham Destinations, Inc.) military service stock Code NYSE: WYND is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
