Hospitality Properites Trust (NYSE:HPT) was established in 1995 and is headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts. It is an American REIT company whose investment targets are hotels, inns and restaurant properties.

Hospitality Properties Trust is engaged in the business of real estate investment trusts, acquiring and owning many hotels leased or operated by other hotels. The company’s business is mainly divided into two parts: hotel and tourism service center real estate investment. It owns related properties in the United States, Ontario, Canada and Puerto Rico. The company does not participate in the operation of hotels and tourist service centers. Its assets are mainly operated by non-affiliated hotel management companies and are regarded as part of portfolio management or lease contracts.

As of June 30, 2015, Hospitality Properties Trust owned 302 hotels and 193 self-owned or leased tourist centers in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

As of June 30, 2015, Hospitality Properties Trust’s largest portfolio agreement was an agreement that included 93 hotel operations in 27 states. The smallest agreement was only 1 hotel with 372 rooms.

Company agreements/cooperative hotels include (that is, hotels under HPT are managed by the following companies): Marriott International , InterContinental Hotels , Hyatt Corporation (NYSE:H), Carlson Hotels Worldwide (private company) , Sonesta International Hotels Corporation, Wyndham Hotel Group and Morgans Hotel Group (NASDAQ:MHGC).

Hospitality Properites Trust’s travel center is managed by TravelCenters of America LLC (NYSE:TA).
